In addition to perfect aesthetics and easy handling, maximum safety is a key parameter for the evaluation and success prospects of a state-of-the-art implant system. The statement "An implant system without safety is nothing – safety without scientific documentation is also nothing" makes the reliability profile requirements even clearer. In developing the tioLogic^© implant system, close teamwork between the specialists at Dentaurum Implants with experts at universities, clinics, practices and laboratories was very reliability-oriented.

Enormous importance was attributed to obtaining scientifically correct documentation and ensuring that the various analyses were reproducible. For example, at the University of Bonn extensive biomechanical tests were conducted with the aid of FEM analyses. For instance, the influence of external implant geometry on the various bone areas (compact bone and cancellous bone) was measured with vertical and transverse loads. The results were directly incorporated into the design of implant shape and thread geometries.

However, it was not only implants with different dimensions which were developed with state-of-the-art scientific methods – other components such as abutments were included in the investigations, e. g. the changing-load fatigue tests according to ISO 14801 in studies at the Fraunhofer Institute. But that was not all. Peripheral components such as primary and secondary packaging were realised on the basis of empirical values, incorporating technological innovations and taking the aspect of maximum reliability into consideration.

 The final example of the extensive development details worth mentioning is the S-M-L concept. With only 3 abutment sizes it is possible to provide customised, aesthetic treatment for all 5 implant diameters and lengths, easily and reliably.
